1. About these terms
These terms apply to rides booked with Rido Halifax, operated by RIDO HALIFAX TRANSPORTATION LIMITED, a company registered in Nova Scotia and based in Halifax.
By booking, you agree to these terms and to the policies they link to, including the On-Time Pickup Guarantee† and Changes & Cancellations.
2. Booking and confirmation
- You can book as a guest, for yourself or for another passenger. Please give accurate passenger, luggage and special-item details.
- A booking is confirmed only when you receive our confirmation. Some requests need review first, such as short-notice rides, special items or larger groups, and stay pending until we confirm them.
- Online bookings can be made up to 180 days ahead. Airport areas with a zone charge of $25 or more need 24 hours' notice. Long-distance rides booked less than 4 hours ahead are confirmed only if a driver is available.
- We operate 24/7, subject to availability and confirmation.
- Requests for a specific driver or vehicle can go in your booking notes. We'll try, but can't guarantee them.
3. Prices, tax and price protection
- Fares are shown before HST. Your total, including tax, is shown before you confirm.
- Once confirmed, your transportation fare won't increase because of traffic, a longer journey, a route we choose or ordinary road conditions.
- Your total can change only for approved items: a change you request to your route or stops, waiting beyond the included time, a planned wait at a stop, add-ons, a change of service, or passenger or luggage changes that need a different vehicle.
- An advertised “from” airport price is for an eligible ride: a Base-area Essential airport ride paid with Pay Online. The fare for your service, address and payment choice is shown before you confirm.
- Discounts, including the $5 Pay Online saving and round-trip savings, apply before HST.
- Manual quotes are valid for 48 hours and don't reserve a vehicle until you accept.
4. Payment
Pay Online · Save $5. You add a card, which is saved with our payment provider. Nothing is charged when you book. Your booked fare is charged 10 minutes after your ride begins, even if the ride has already ended. If the charge fails, you can pay your driver in the vehicle and keep the $5 saving.
When you confirm, you agree to this statement: “By confirming, you authorize Rido to charge this payment method after your ride begins for the booked fare and any additional charges you approve.” The authorization applies only to that booking.
Pay in the Vehicle. No card is collected when you book. You pay by tap, debit or credit in the vehicle. Cash isn't a regular payment option; we may accept it case by case.
After your ride, we settle the final balance and send one itemized receipt by text and email. Unpaid charges on a Pay in the Vehicle booking, such as a cancellation or no-show charge, may need to be settled before your next booking.
5. Waiting and no-shows
- Waiting starts at the later of your confirmed pickup time or your driver's arrival message. Time your driver spends waiting because they arrived early is free.
- Essential includes 5 minutes of waiting and Comfort and Extra Care include 10. After that, waiting is $1 per full minute. Waiting totals under $5 are waived.
- We'll text and call before ending a wait. The driver may leave after 15 minutes (Essential) or 20 minutes (Comfort and Extra Care). If you respond that you're on your way, we extend the wait for a short time.
- A no-show is charged at 50% of the booked transportation fare, without separate waiting charges.
6. Changes and cancellations
- Airport rides: free 12+ hours before pickup, 25% from 2 to 12 hours, 50% under 2 hours or for a no-show. Long-distance: free 24+ hours before, 25% from 12 to 24 hours, 50% under 12 hours or for a no-show.
- Charges are a percentage of your booked transportation fare after discounts: the service fare, zone charge and any vehicle charge.
- You have 10 minutes after confirmation to correct or cancel an obvious booking mistake at no charge. Accidental duplicate bookings reported promptly are cancelled at no charge.
- A change can't remove a charge that had already applied to the original booking.
- We may reduce or waive any of our charges at our discretion.
Full schedule, including rescheduling and second vehicles: Changes & Cancellations.
7. Flights, weather and disruptions
- If the airline cancels your flight, you can choose a free reschedule or a full refund.
- An ordinary flight delay moves your airport pickup later at no charge. If the delay is more than 6 hours or into the next day, we re-confirm the ride at the same fare. If we can't serve it, you can choose a free reschedule or a full refund.
- If we decide a trip can't be driven safely because of severe weather, closures or official restrictions, you can choose a free reschedule or a full refund. If we decide the trip is safe and you choose not to travel, the normal cancellation charges apply.
- If we cancel a confirmed booking, you pay nothing for it and receive a full refund.
- If our vehicle breaks down, we'll try to send a replacement at no extra cost. If we can't provide or complete the ride, you won't pay the transportation fare for it.
8. On-time pickup guarantee†
For eligible Comfort and Extra Care address pickups, if your driver arrives more than 5 minutes after your confirmed pickup time for a reason within our control, we don't charge your transportation fare, or we refund it. Essential and Airport Pickup are excluded. Eligibility, exclusions and remedy: On-Time Pickup Guarantee†.
9. Vehicles, passengers and luggage
- We match the vehicle to the passengers and luggage you declare. We won't carry more passengers or items than a vehicle can take safely and legally.
- If you arrive with more passengers or luggage than declared, we'll check the fit. A larger vehicle or second vehicle may cost more, and we'll ask you first where practical. If no safe option exists, the ride may go ahead with what fits, or be cancelled, and a last-minute cancellation charge may apply.
- We may substitute the driver or vehicle. The replacement will be properly licensed, insured and large enough, and you won't pay more because of the change.
10. Conduct and safety
- No smoking, vaping, cannabis or open alcohol in the vehicle.
- Drivers may refuse or end a ride for threats, violence, harassment, dangerous interference with driving or deliberate damage.
- We may charge a documented cleaning or damage fee for mess or damage beyond normal use: $25 minor, $75 moderate, $150 significant.
- Drivers will stop only where it's safe and legal, at the nearest suitable point to your address.
- Passengers under 18 must travel with an adult. We don't supply child seats. Service animals are welcome; other animals must stay in a secure carrier.
11. Lost property
We keep found items for up to 30 days where practical. Collection is free, and so is delivery within the Base area. Delivery elsewhere costs the zone charge for that address. Identity documents, wallets, phones, keys and medication are handled securely.
12. Refunds
When a refund is due, we start it within 1 business day, to your original payment method where possible. Your bank or card issuer may take longer to post it.
