1. Who we are
Rido Halifax is operated by RIDO HALIFAX TRANSPORTATION LIMITED, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. For privacy questions, email hello@ridohalifax.ca.
2. What we collect
- Contact details for the person booking and the passenger: name, phone number and email.
- Trip details: pickup and destination addresses, unit numbers, dates and times, flight details for airport pickups, passengers, luggage, special items and any notes you add.
- Payment information: if you choose Pay Online, your card is saved with our payment provider. Rido never stores your full card number. We keep payment status, charges, refunds and receipts.
- Ride records: driver arrival, waiting time, trip start and end, changes you request, charges and guarantee outcomes.
- Messages we send you and you send us by text, email or phone.
3. How we use it
- To price, confirm and operate your ride, including matching the right vehicle.
- To send your confirmation, reminders, driver and vehicle details, tracking link, arrival message and receipt.
- To take payment, issue refunds and apply the on-time pickup guarantee†.
- To handle safety issues, lost property and disputes, and to keep accounting and tax records.
- To ask once, after a completed ride, for optional feedback. We keep your feedback answers privately to improve our service. Google reviews are written and posted by you on Google; Rido never posts for you.
5. Tracking and booking links
Your tracking link is private, hard to guess and expires. It shows your driver approaching; it doesn't give anyone ongoing access to a driver's location. Links to manage or pay for a booking are private and expire too. Please don't share them.
Codes and QR links. If you open Rido through a code or QR link — for example from a driver's or a partner's card — or type such a code when you book, we note that code with your visit and your booking, so we know which cards and partners bring riders to Rido. A code never changes your price. To count visits we use a random number that stays in your browser tab and ends when you close it. We don't use cookies for this, and we don't store your IP address with your visit. You can also get your own code online; we keep your first name, your email (through your Rido account) and the code, and count the visits and bookings that use it. When a ride booked with a code is finished, we record the reward the code earns and each payment we send for it. The person with the code sees only counts and amounts, never who booked or when.
Website visit counts. To learn which pages help people, Rido counts visits to this website. We don't use cookies for this and nothing is stored on your device. When you open a page, your browser tells us which page it is (never anything after a ? or #), the website you came from (its name only, such as google.com), whether you came through a campaign or referral link, and whether you use a phone, tablet or computer. Your network tells us your approximate city, province and country, never anything more exact. To count each visitor once a day, our server turns your network address and browser details into a one-way code that changes every day and is kept for about two days; your IP address is never stored. We also count, by that code, whether you got a price for a ride. All we keep are daily totals, such as how many people opened a page, for about 13 months. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, you are not counted at all.
Sharing your trip. From your Manage booking page you can send a private trip link to people you choose. Anyone with the link can follow that ride until it ends: its progress, the driver's name and photo, the car's colour, model, plate and photo, the booking reference, and the car's location from when the driver is on the way until the ride is complete (not on Rido Share rides). They don't see your addresses, flight, fare, payment, notes, email or phone number. You can also choose to share your own phone's location with a person you added: they see it on the trip page while your Manage booking page is open, until the ride ends. Rido keeps only the newest position and erases it when sharing stops. If you give us their email, we send them the link and, only if you ask, a message when the ride starts and ends; every message lets them stop these emails. You can turn a link off at any time.
6. Texts and emails
We send messages about your booking and ride. Marketing messages, if we send any, are separate and need your consent.
We text ride updates to the phone number given in the booking. Reply STOP to stop these texts.
Saved launch price. If you save a launch price, we keep a record that your confirmed email saved it, when, until when it can be used and which ride used it. Saving it signs you in to your Rido account with that email. Getting offers by email is a separate, optional choice, and unsubscribing never removes your launch price.
Email list. If you join Rido's email list, we keep your email, when you agreed and the wording you agreed to, and a record of the one-use code we email you and the ride that uses it. You can unsubscribe at any time.
7. Security
Card details are handled by our payment provider. Private links are long, random and expire. We avoid recording personal details where they aren't needed.
8. Your rights
You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you.
You can ask us to delete your Rido account, including a Rido Driver account, by emailing hello@ridohalifax.ca. We complete the deletion within 30 days of your request: we delete your sign-in and the personal details we no longer need, and keep only the ride, payment and tax records the law requires.
